Returning from Home Assignment
Home assignment is a misleading term. We get to go back to our home culture and see family and friends, but it is a trip including hours in the car, living out of suitcases, and finding all the creative ways to eat at hotel breakfast buffets (and knowing what's best in each one). And with two kids under 3 in tow, we were very excited to return to Kyiv and to some sense of regularity. Thank you to all the churches who let us come and speak! You make the long hours and traveling mishaps bearable through your hospitality!
Our first project after returning was to complete the annual registration process that enables us to live in Ukraine. This was our fourth year completing the process and each year is easier and easier as we understand more and more about how the system works.
M+Power Missions Orientation
In August, the first Eurasia Mission Orientation on the CIS Field was held. Over 20 people gathered to train and explore possibilities of being a volunteer missionary within the Eurasia Region. A mix of participants and mentors came, and it was exciting to interview them and hear how God is calling nationals from the CIS into missions!
Every year the CIS Mission team gathers for a time of teambuilding, growth and fun. This year we decided to spend that time as a week to help our church in Kazatin with their building project - we became our own W&W team! As the autumn temperatures dropped we worked excitedly to build a fence, cut wood, and dig holes. But the culmination of the week was not in our physical labor or the result, but in the fact that we could work side-by-side with local brothers and sisters, hearing their stories, sharing life and worshiping with them.
Last week, we celebrated Hannah’s 3rd birthday with a Princess Sofia Tea Party. (What else can you expect from a three year old.) Our apartment was overfilled with friends and family from both Ukraine and America, who love Hannah and have been a part in making her into the outstanding little girl she is today. Thank you to all who are praying for her on a regular basis.
